How To Be Safe At Railroad Grade Crossings

Collisions between highway vehicles and trains have been, until recently, the greatest source of injuries and fatalities in the railroad industry.

In partnership with Operation Lifesaver, FRA has worked alongside the rail industry, State and local governments, and other transportation organizations in countless outreach efforts at schools and workplaces in communities all across the country to spread the word about rail safety.

The FRA's crossing team also provides a wealth of safety data and statistics on the FRA website for the benefit of the public.
