Richmond-Hampton Roads Passenger Rail Project

FRA and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation have prepared a Draft Tier I Environmental Impact Statement that evaluates the environmental impacts of the Richmond-Hampton Roads Passenger Rail Project. This Project proposes passenger rail service improvements between Richmond, VA and the Hampton Roads region, focusing on two routes to implement passenger service. The build alternatives analyze a combination of conventional speed (79 mph) and higher speed (90 and 110 mph) passenger rail service with varying frequencies over the routes.
