In May and June of 2009, FRA hosted seven workshops across the country to solicit stakeholder and public input into the development of the HSIPR Program Interim Guidance. These workshops were attended by approximately 1,150 members of the rail community, related businesses, labor groups and representatives of federal, state and local elected officials. The workshops also provided the opportunity to gather various stakeholder groups --such as state departments of transportation, freight railroads, Amtrak, and other service operators -- to begin fostering the collaboration and partnerships that are vital to the success of the HSIPR Program.

FRA also hosted a workshop in June with rail manufacturing, supplier and other industry groups.
