Informing the public about how to be safe at highway-rail crossings and the importance of not trespassing along railroad rights-of-way is vital to improving safety. In partnership with Operation Lifesaver, FRA has worked alongside the rail industry, State and local governments, and other transportation organizations in countless outreach efforts at schools and workplaces in communities all across the country to spread the word about rail safety. The FRA's crossing team also provides a wealth of safety data and statistics on the FRA website for the benefit of the public.
