Magnetic Levitation Projects Grant Program FY 2015
The Magnetic Levitation Projects Grant Program provides $27.8 million for preconstruction planning activities and capital costs of viable, existing magnetic levitation projects. See the 2015 Notice of Funding Availability for more information.
Sections 1101(a)(18) and 1307 of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA–LU, Public Law 109–59 (August 10, 2005)), as amended by section 102 of the SAFETEA–LU Technical Corrections Act of 2008, Public Law 110–244 (June 6, 2008).
The projects must:
- Involve a segment or segments of a high-speed ground transportation corridor;
- Result in an operating transportation facility that provides a revenue producing service; and
- Be approved by the Secretary based on an application submitted to the Secretary by a state or authority designated by one or more states.
With respect to the second criterion, funding was made available for the deployment of magnetic levitation projects.
