ABSTRACT: This report describes a proposed cost estimating approach and presents annual operating & maintenance (O&M) cost factors for use in conjunction with VNTSC's Scenario Assessment Models for planning and evaluating super-speed (250-33mph) magnetic levitation (maglev) transportation systems applications. The cost model is composed of two separate but linked components: 1) Capital Costs and 2) Annual Operating and Maintenance (O&M) costs. Technology and corridor variables can be input by the users, or, if specific information is not available, built-in default values can be called upon. This report contians estimates of these default values for the Annual Operating and Maintenance Cost portion of the model.
