KEYWORDS: Finite Elements Stress Analysis, Structural Simulations, Modeling
ABSTRACT: The SPAR program, originally developed by W. D. Whetstone, is an analytical system for calculating static deflections and stresses, natural vibration modes and frequencies, and buckling loads and mode shapes associated with linear, finite element structural simulations. This Report extends the available documentation for SPAR and concerns its implementation on the Association of American Railroads DEC-2050 Computer System. Most of the processors, although of the same name as in the original version, have been modified to be operative on a DEC-2050 System. The United States Government and the Association of American Railroads assume no liability concerning the SPAR program and its usage.
