ABSTRACT: On September 19, 2015, at 6:18 am (CDT), an eastbound BNSF Railway (BNSF) Train G-MNXDPK7-17A, a loaded ethanol train, derailed seven cars at Milepost (MP) 596.7, on the Aberdeen Subdivision of BNSF’s Twin Cities Division near Lesterville, South Dakota (SD). Lesterville is 78 miles southwest of Sioux Falls and 190 miles north of Omaha, Nebraska. The territory is non-signaled single main track and the method of operation is by track warrant control (TWC).
