ABSTRACT: The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) are preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate the potential environmental impacts for the Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project (“the Proposed Project”). MDOT, the project sponsor, is proposing to improve rail connectivity along the Northeast Corridor (NEC) by replacing or improving the Susquehanna River Rail Bridge between the City of Havre de Grace in Harford County, Maryland and the Town of Perryville in Cecil County, Maryland (see Figure ES-1). FRA is the lead federal agency and the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak), as the bridge owner and operator, is providing conceptual and preliminary engineering designs and is acting in coordination with MDOT and FRA.
