FRA Grade Crossing Safety and
Railroad Trespass Prevention Workshops

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) invites you to attend a free FRA Grade Crossing Safety and Railroad Trespass Prevention Workshop. Multiple workshops are being planned across the United States. Please check this page often for updates.

One of the workshops’ overarching goals is to identify existing and emerging technology designed and used to mitigate, reduce, and ultimately eliminate highway-rail grade crossing and trespasser incidents. Another overarching goal is to raise awareness of the dangers and effects of highway-rail grade crossing and trespasser incidents, to seek out low-cost solutions, and to discuss practicable ideas for technological improvements for vehicular and pedestrian safety at highway-rail grade crossings.

Each workshop will vary based on local concerns, focusing on railroad trespassing prevention, grade crossing safety, or related topics. All workshops will include discussions on:

  • Leading industry best practices

  • Root causes
  • Local strategies to reduce incidents
  • Incident effects on communities
  • Recommendations for future actions to reduce incidents
  • Funding solutions for implementing mitigation strategies
